Dominican exports could near US$3 thousand million

According to the Centro Dominicano de Promoción de Exportaciones Cedopex, exports for January-December 1995, including those from the industrial free zones reached US$2,528.69 million. Based on September 1995-April 1996 results, Cedopex expects exports in 1996 to reach US$2,938.90 million – a 16.22% increase. This includes an increase of 19.71% in traditional exports, 18.4% from mining, 11.46% from non-traditional exports, and with the industrial free zone accounting for 15.80%.

Industrial free zone exports are expected to total US$2,043.57 million, up from US$1,764.71 million. Mineral exports are anticipated to rise from US$301.20 million in 1995 to US$356.6 million in 1996. Traditional exports are expected to ascend from US$276.88 million in 1995 to US$331.46 million in 1996.
