IDB representative says electricity is main problem

The representative of the Interamerican Development Bank in this country, Leonardo Da Silva, said that for the nation to achieve the sustained growth of its economy and productive sectors, it has to eliminate the deficiencies in its infrastructure. He said that priority number one should be the resolving of the electricity shortage, then the deficiencies in the port services, and third improving conditions for overland transportation. Mr Da Silva mentioned that the IDB has maintained a level of US$100 million in loans a year on average, and he expects that level of approval for annual disbursement to be maintained. He praised the present macroeconomic stability achieved by the Central Bank authorities.
