Italians interested in Dominican free zones

The Italian-Dominican Chamber held a workshop last week in Santo Domingo in cooperation with the Red Centro-Sur América de las Cámaras de Comercio de Italia en el Exterior (Central-South American Network of Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad) and the Association of Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad. The event sought to study the possibilities that are open to Italians interested in investing in the Dominican free zones.

The Italian-Dominican Chamber of Commerce is experiencing an increase in the interest expressed by Italian businessmen in this country.

Participating in the workshop on the free zones were Giuseppe Zanon, president of the Italian-Dominican Chamber of Commerce, Jose Manuel Paliza, president of the Consejo Nacional de la Empresa Privada (Conep). Also taking part were Acelis Angeles de Glas, director of the Consejo Nacional de Zonas Francas, and Fernando Capellan, president of the Asociación de Industrias de Zonas Francas of Santiago. The network of Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad gathers chambers in Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic. It has the support of the Italian government, and receives funds from the Italian Ministry Foreign Trade. The organization offers assistance for Italian investments that are made abroad and for trade of Italy with other regions.
