The Dominican Republic could export some US$25 million in bananas to Europe this year, according to a report in the newspaper Hoy. Last year, banana exports brought in US$20 million. Belgium and Portugal purchased 80% of the fruit. Hoy also quotes the last publication of the Junta Agroempresarial Dominicana (JAD), the principal farming organization, saying that there are good prospects for exporting yautia, coconut, avocado, and mangos.
