DR against sugar U.S. sugar bill

The ambassadors of the Central American countries and the Dominican Republic have expressed their disagreement against a bill that would set prices for raw sugar in the United States. The Dominican ambassador in Washington, José del Carmen Ariza, said that the initiative, enjoined by his Central American colleagues, was communicated in a letter sent to the president of the Subcommittee of Specialization in Agriculture in the U.S. Senate, Thad Cofcharan, a Republican from Mississippi, and its vice president, Dale Bumpers, an Arkansas Democrat. Mr Ariza expects the move to be halted because of its lack of support in the U.S. Congress.
