Engineer Leonel Castellanos, president of the Asociación Interamericana de Hombres de Empresa (AIHE), considers that a tax reduction applied on imports of electrical equipment is a better alternative than granting exemptions to a group of electricity companies, because the country has a competitive labor force in complex equipment manufacturing. He said that the reason for not competing in the manufacturing of electrical equipment is the high import taxes on the materials required.
