The secretary general of the Asociación de Estados del Caribe (EAC), Simón Molina Duarte, thinks that the Dominican Republic cannot remain isolated from the region’s schemes, and recommends that the new government create an international team capable of defending the country’s interests. He said that hitherto the D.R. has not had a policy that defines its desired role in the regional, the Caribbean, or, indeed, the hemisphere.
