President Leonel Fernandez has instructed that all the monies received from the petroleum differential levy should go to the Central Bank, for payments against the external debt. He also made a RD$300 million payment to the Banco Agrícola so it can finance small and medium planters and farmers. The President has also ordered that every US dollar received by the government should be exchanged at the official rate at the Central Bank, the closing of the government’s US dollar account and the enactment of the Foreign Investment Bill. This and other important economic measures were taken by the President at the first government counsel meeting held at the National Palace last week.
