The Minister of Education, Ligia Amada Melo, announced the implementation of school breakfasts in government schools, which began classes on 9 September. The school breakfasts, which were one of President Leonel Fernandez’s campaign promises, will be served to over 400,000 students at a cost of RD$18 million per month.
