The judge in charge of the preliminary phase of the investigation into the murder of Jose Rafael Llenas Aybar, Alexis Henríquez Nuñez, called on citizens to have confidence that the case will be solved, despite the slow pace of the questionings of those involved. Judge Henríquez Nuñez said that one of the reasons the investigation has been so slow is that he is waiting for an answer from the Argentine government to the request by the D.R. to return the son and husband of its ex-Ambassador to the D.R., Teresa Meccia de Palma.
Her son Martin Luis Palma Meccia and husband Luis Palma have apparently been implicated in the brutal murder of the 12-year-old boy, who was found stabbed 34 times near the farm of the Palma-Meccia family on 4 May. One of the confessed killers, Mario Jose Redondo Llenas, is said to have implicated the pair who, at the time, enjoyed diplomatic immunity.
