The United States Embassy says that the Dominican Republic has one of the more advanced telecomunications systems in Latin America, and that the main business related magazines and newspapers can be purchased. It states that the services offered by the Compañía Dominicana de Telefonos, Telepuerto San Isidro, and the All American Cables and Radio Company, popularly known as CODETEL, TRICOM and All America, includes direct long distance dialing, international 800 lines, electronic mail, Internet, cellular telephones, BEEPERS. In the bigger cities of the country, cable TV is also available. This was published in its “Economic Trends and Perspectives of the Dominican Republic”, part of the “Commercial Guide of the Dominican Republic for the Fiscal Year 1997”, produced by the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo.
