Dr. Jose Francisco Peña Gomez traveled to Miami last week to continue his recovery from surgery performed in New York to remove two malignant tumors from his abdomen. The thrice presidential candidate of the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) left New York 15 days after undergoing the surgery at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Peña Gomez is reported to have taken several long walks around the city and to be regaining his appetite. He is expected to spend several more weeks out of the D.R. as he continues his recovery from his second cancer surgery in two years.
