A study made by the Comisión Económica para América Latina (CEPAL) has determined that 77% of the country’s small businesses have never received credit, which shows that they need a mechanism that will allow them to obtain the necessary resources to finance themselves. The report “Support for poor people’s business initiatives”, adds that 88% of the owners started their enterprises themselves, 5% inherited them, 4% acquired them, 8% have obtained funds from friends or families, 7% have received financing from commercial banks and 2% have taken loans from moneylenders.
