Hospital equipment donations

US non-profit organization Global Links donates hundreds of beds, materials, instruments and equipment every year to different DR hospitals, which in turn have been donated by US assistance centers, as reported in the Listin Diario. The organization, whose headquarters are located in Pittsburgh, has established relations with several countries, particularly those in need of better health services. The organization has made donations to the DR estimated at US$10.6 million over the past 10 years. The donations come to the DR through the Pan-American Health Organization and with the help of Itabo Electric Generation Company that pays for the transportation of the donated items, as part of an agreement with the Ministry of Public Health. During the 16 years it has been in operation, Global Links has donated equipment valued at over US$117 million to countries around the world. The beneficiary countries include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Namibia, Paraguay, Peru, Nigeria, Uganda, and the DR.
