Government spokesman Roberto Rodriguez Marchena explained yesterday that the creation of two new ministries has the intention of re-structuring the functions of the current Ministry of Finance and the Presidential Technical Secretariat, as reported by Diario Libre. A re-design is going to be carried out, according to the official, after stating that the aim is to achieve greater efficiency in public administration. The Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development will take over the operations of the Presidential Technical Secretariat and will include the National Planning Department, the Statistics Department, the National Institute of Administration and Personnel, while the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will concentrate all fiscal activities.
