Doctors from the United States performed operations on 28 children in Santiago who suffered from deformations and burns. The free surgeries were part of a plastic surgery program and were carried out at the Unidad de Ninos Quemados Doctora Thelma Rosario at the regional hospital Doctor Arturo Grullon. The operated children came from Santiago, La Vega, Monte Cristi, Santiago, Rodriguez, Puerto Plata, and Dajabon among others.
