Chavez positions Zelaya

Over the weekend, President Hugo Chavez received Manuel Zelaya, deposed President of Honduras who is in exile in the DR. Zelaya was appointed chief of the political council of PetroCaribe, the Venezuelan organization that finances petroleum sales to Caribbean countries.

Chavez said in Venezuela that he would recognize the new Honduras President Porfirio Lobo if the latter is allowed to enter the Central American Parliament and is allowed to return to his country to do politics.

During the meeting of heads of state in Guatemala, the Central American System for Central American Integration (SICA) unanimously accepted the proposal of President Leonel Fernandez so that in the framework of the OAS the sanctions against Honduras be lifted.
