The National Police, obviously stung by the reports from the Minister of the Interior that indicated that the Police Chief was not really the commander of all the policemen and women in the country since 15,000 were said to be on some sort of duty other than patrolling the streets or fighting crime. Major General Jose A. Polanco Gomez announced that 4,000 more police agents would now be on the streets. He showed off his 47 new motorcycles, seven smaller machines, four golf carts and 13 mobile command centers that will be placed in strategic locations in the National District as part of the Safe Holiday Season 2010. Diario Libre and other newspapers also mentioned that the police would be increasing their criminal intelligence activities and investigative work at the same time.
