Judge Xiomara Tineo from Puerto Plata has issued a three-month prison sentence for protective custody against the assistant prosecutor Maria Leonarda Conte Gomez, who was arrested and suspended for taking a bribe of RD$2,000.
Conte Gomez was arrested last Friday, 8 March on the orders of the Public Prosector of Puerto Plata, Rosa Alba Nunez Pichardo, who said that she had received complaints that Conte had been asking for money to resolve certain cases.
