Manny Jr. seeks to follow in his father’s footsteps

As the countdown begins for the amateur baseball draft, from 6-8 June, Manny Jr., the eldest son of the legendary Manny Ramirez, is in the spotlight. The 17-year old hopeful is training at the Bradenton, Florida IMG Academy proudly tells about his accomplishments on their website. Yahoo Sports reports that Manny Jr has grown to 6-foot-3, taller and lankier than Manny Sr. but also very much a mirror of his father when he first joined the Cleveland Indians in 1993. The sportswriter speculates he is certain to be selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft in June.

Manny Jr. is committed to studying at Central Arizona Community College, regarded as a top-ranked baseball school. As reported, this last year Manny Jr. hit .366 with two home runs and 27 RBI. “My father wants me to go to college and get a degree,” Manny Jr. says. “If baseball happens, it happens,” he told Yahoo Sports writer Les Carpenter
