Canadian arrested with EUR295,000

Customs agents detained a Canadian man, Christopher Peter Jetter, at Punta Cana International Airport, after finding him in possession of 295,000 euros, equivalent to more than RD$15 million. Jetter arrived from France on an Air France flight and was singled out by agents for acting suspiciously.

Customs agents stopped Jetter on Monday, 13 May, and discovered the money that he had not declared on his Customs Declaration form and could not account for. He was taken to the Public Prosecution office in Higuey.

This is the second case of large sums of money being discovered at the airport recently, the first being 104,720 euros, or RD$5,538,630 belonging to French citizen Ali Zeggai, who said that he only had 10,000 euros on him.
