Yesterday evening, Wednesday 11 December, the Leones del Escogido earned their fifth straight entry into the playoff series of the winter baseball tournament. They defeated, in 12 long innings, the Estrellas Orientales, with a clutch hit by Melky Mesa.
In La Romana’s Estadio Francisco Micheli, the Aguilas Cibaenas gave manager Felix Fermin his historic 400th victory as a manager in the Dominican Winter Baseball League. His record of 400-282 is one of the most outstanding in the long history of the league. The Aguilas need just one more victory to classify for the playoff series of the championship.
In San Francisco de Macoris, the Tigres del Licey got homeruns from Alex Hassan and Jamaico Navarro and defeated the Gigantes del Cibao by a score of 5-1.
