Jose Ramon Peralta: “The best is yet to come”

The Danilo Medina administration has sufficient resources for injecting the economy in 2014, a year that will be dedicated to consolidate the growth model with social justice, putting the faith in the people and the productive forces.

“The best is yet to come,” Jose Ramon Peralta, the Administrative Minister for the Presidency promised yesterday, Wednesday 11 December when speaking to those attending the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) monthly luncheon. The Minister said that the resources for cranking up the economy will be there from day one.

“This next year will be another year of fulfillment, of modernization and of change. It will be the year of the consolidation of a new way of doing politics and of a new economic model. We are ending this year, 2013, showing with figures that wealth redistribution and economic growth can go hand in hand,” declared Peralta, while presenting a review of the last year. The most outstanding achievements mentioned by the minister included the reduction in the fiscal deficit that in the month of November reached 1.7% of GDP while in December 2012 it was at 6.6% of GDP. He also stressed the inflation levels which in October were at 3.43% and which are projected to be at 4.74% by the end of December. He concluded by mentioning the 6.6% increase in the tourism sector as well as foreign investment and the free zone sector.
