Health insurance for domestic workers

The executive director of the National Health Insurance Plan (Senasa) has announced that the 50,000 domestic workers and their direct dependants will be included in the Family Health Insurance Subsidized Regime (SFS) as of this Saturday, 16 May 2015.

Chanel Rosa Chupany said that anyone who is interested should go to one of the 13 Senasa offices around the country or the head office on 27 Febrero Avenue with Tiradentes on Saturday 16 or Sunday 17 May, or either of the next two weekends up to the end of the month from 8am to 4pm. He said that first, the affiliation process needed to validate the applicant’s socio-economic level using the Unique Beneficiaries System (Siuben) that classifies applicants according to social group. In addition, applicants need to submit a letter written by their employer, either typed or handwritten, to show that they are employed as a domestic worker at the time of the application.
