National District Judge Clara Luz Almonte Gomez has postponed a preliminary hearing in the case of Frank Kelin Holguin Medina, who is accused of throwing a firebomb on the Santo Domingo Metro injuring 18 people.
The judge made the decision to adjourn the proceedings until 28 May, on the grounds that she needed to inform the defendant’s lawyer about a writ issued by two of the victims. She also wanted to explain the case, which has been prepared by the Public Prosecution service, to the victims. One victim, Francis Alberto Gonzalez, who was seriously burned, spoke from a wheelchair and asked the judge to ensure that justice was done in the case and described how he has suffered as a result of his injuries. It was the first time that Gonzalez had seen the accused in person.
