The trial of the Santiago lawyer and television commentator, Marcos Martinez, who is accused of forging documents to slander Vice President Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez, has been delayed until 16 July 2015.
Judges Deyanira Pena, Eugenia Elizabeth Alvarez and Francia Yudelka Clase, who began to hear the case, decided to delay it following a request from Martinez’ legal counsel.
The Vice President sued Martinez in the middle of the 2012 electoral campaign after he accused her of having a bank account in Denmark with 43 million euros.
Cedeno de Fernandez, who was First Lady and President Danilo Medina’s running mate, at the time, categorically denied the revelation, cried in public and decided to sue Martinez.
