The Dominican consul in New York, architect Eduardo Selman has announced that a special desk at the Consulate will promote the Dominican Republic as a real estate destination for the Dominican Diaspora as well as for foreigners. He made the announcement during the Dominican Week opening event in Washington earlier this week. The session was moderated by Mary Fernandez, president of the legal committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic, which is coordinating the event.
Hospitality Management Solutions president Abelardo Melgen called for an integrated strategy to attract real estate investments by retirees from the United States who would be attracted by climate, health and other services. “We have a law, 171-07, that encourages this kind of investment, but we do not use it,” he said.
Roberto Millan and Andres Rivas, general managers of Fiduciaria Universal and Fiduciaria Popular spoke of the importance of trust in the country as a tool for real estate investment with investment guarantees.
