Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito says that he will make every effort to ensure that truth and justice prevail according to international law in the case of the former papal nuncio in the Dominican Republic, Josef Wesolowski.
He welcomed the Vatican Court’s decision to send Wesolowski to trial. Wesolowski is accused of sexually abusing minors in the Dominican Republic and possession of child pornography. The first hearing takes place on 11 July 2015.
Dominguez Brito said that the Dominican state had provided the Vatican with evidence for the case and they would continue to provide any further information as required during the trial.
In 2014, Wesolowski was placed under house arrest in Rome on the express orders of Pope Francis due to the serious accusations of abuse of minors during his diplomatic posting to the Dominican Republic.
