Major General Manuel Castro Castillo, Chief of Police, promoted in rank three Dominican women wrestling athletes who won medals in the Pan Am Games in Toronto 2015.
Candida Vaszquez (48 kg), who won gold, was promoted to sergeant. Beatriz Piron (48 kg) and Yafreysi Silvestre (53 kg) were promoted to corporal. “The National Police are proud that these young athletes, from our own ranks have placed the name of the Dominican Republic high for all to see. Their performances are gifts to our nation. We are proud of their accomplishments as they have reflected the best as citizens and police officers.” Castro spoke during the event that was held on Sunday, 26 July 2015, Father’s Day in the Dominican Republic.
