Licelot Marte de Barrio, the president of the Chamber of Accounts, the government audit body, has said that they will begin an audit of the rebuilding of the Dario Contreras Hospital in response to a request from the Dominican Alliance Against Corruption (Adocco).
Julio Cesar De la Rosa Tiburcio, general coordinator of Adocco, had said that the original budget for the rebuilding of the hospital was RD$885,500,000 and when it finished, the actual cost was RD$1.5 billion.
De la Rosa Tiburcio said that Adoco will review the evidence uncovered in the official audit report and conduct interviews with key informants before deciding to recommend referring the case to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
