Tropical Storm Ida is unlikely to pose a threat to the Caribbean Islands, including the Dominican Republic, as it is currently over 1,500 kilometers north of the Lesser Antilles and moving in a northwesterly direction at a speed of some 20 kmh.
According to the United States National Hurricane Center, however, some strengthening is expected before it will slowly begin to lose strength from tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 September 2015.
