The Dominican Armada (Navy) has arrested 24 Dominicans and three Cubans who were trying to get to Puerto Rico illegally. Sixteen of the Dominicans were arrested on El Cortecito beach in Higuey, La Altagracia province at 6:30am on Sunday, 31 January together with the three Cubans, while the other Dominicans, five men and three women were arrested at dawn yesterday Monday, 1 February in El Cano de la Culebra, Miches, El Seibo province.
The would-be migrants were taken to Naval Intelligence headquarters to be interviewed in the hope that they will reveal the names of the trip organizers.
