
Dominican chef Maria Marte and the owner of the Club Allard where she won the stars, Luisa Orlando, will be using the funds from the Eckart Innovation 2017 Award they received in September 2017 to fund scholarships for training young women Jarabacoa cooking school. Marte is from Jarabacoa and will supervise the program.
The goal is to give the opportunity to more women to become chefs that may achieve success as in the case of Marte. The funds will also go to protect Dominican edible plants that are becoming extinct.
Maria Marte will be at the head of the project to train more worldclass chefs and that of the edible plants. José Carlos Fuentes, who had worked at the three star Sant Pau de Sant Pol de Mar (Barelona) and at the San Pau Tokyo, will take her position at Club Allard.
