The Attorney General’s office has announced that they are looking for seven adolescents who escaped from the Integrated Center for Juvenile Delinquents known as “Ciudad del Niño” that is located in Caballona, Santo Domingo West.
A press release from the public prosecution service said that a security guard shot fatally shot one of the escapees.
The boy who died was Edwin Hernández, age 17 years, who was serving a six-year sentence for robbery and would shortly have been transferred to an adult jail when he turned 18. He fell from the perimeter wall having been hit by a bullet shot by a security guard, who had shouted at the escapees to stop.
Via a press release, the Public Prosecution service has opened an investigation into the incident.
Initial reports state that those who escaped were being held for murder, aggravated robbery as well as drug related offences.
