SICA gathers here to discuss social policies

The countries belonging to the Central American Integration System (SICA) are meeting in Bavaro, central Punta Cana for high-level policy discussions intended to implement a regional agenda on social policies and inclusion towards the year 2030. The assembly seeks to promote equality, fairness and wellbeing and close the social gaps. The activity is organized by the Office of the Vice President of the Dominican Republic and the Secretariat for Social Integration in Central America at the insistence of SICA. Dominican Vice President Margarita Cedeño said that she wants this meeting to mark before and after points regarding social policies in the Central American region.

The Dominican Republic is currently the pro tempore president of SICA. Authorities from Guatemala, Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua are taking part in the assembly. The governments of Costa Rica and Belize are also present at the ministerial level.
