Abinader approves ties with China over Taiwan

Remarking on the severing of diplomatic relations with Taiwan after more than 70 years, PRM presidential hopeful Luis Abinader says that in general terms establishing diplomatic relations with China is the correct decision. He mentioned that China is a major trading partner, with DR imports at approximately US$2.4 billion and exports US$120 million.

The presidential candidate for the PRM in the 2016 presidential election says he would like to see a better balance of trade to favor the Dominican Republic. Citing reports that China has promised US$3 billion in investments in the DR, Abinader says it is up to the government to follow-up with China to assure that this comes to pass.
