The Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montréal Protocol has selected the Dominican Republic to form part of its executive committee, as reported on 2 May 2018 by the Ministry of Environment.
The decision was announced during the celebration of the 29th Meeting of the Parties in the Montréal Protocol that was held in Montréal, Canada. According to the press release, the Dominican Republic will participate in the executive committee for one year. The Montréal Protocol was signed on 16 December 1987. The fund is dedicated to reversing the deterioration of the Earth’s ozone layer. It was established in 1991 to assist developing countries meet their Montreal Protocol commitments. It is managed by an executive committee with equal membership from developed and developing countries.
