On Tuesday 7 August 2018, President Danilo Medina attended the swearing-in of Iván Duque Márquez, who won the presidential elections in the country.
Medina left on Tuesday from the San Isidro Air Force base and was accompanied by the Administrative Minister of the Presidency José Ramón Peralta, Minister of Public Works Gonzalo Castillo, his special assistants, Carlos Pared Pérez and Miguel Mercedes, and the head of the Presidential Security Corps, Major General Adán Cáceres.
Just hours before the 3pm swearing-in ceremony of President Iván Duque in Bogotá, Colombia, the country was shaken at 10:53 am local time by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake.
