Culture Minister Eduardo Selman announced the Santo Domingo Book Fair would continue to be celebrated in the Colonial City. He made the announcement at the Sunday, 5 May 2019 closing of the 10-day cultural event that lured hundreds of thousands of people to activities in the Colonial City. For the event, zone streets were closed off and cultural centers and museums within the core of the historical area were open and free to pedestrians in the city. An estimated million persons visited the Colonial City for the event.
