
The Specialized Prosecution Agency Against Illegal Human Trafficking of the Attorney General Office announced it has rescued 49 victims of human trafficking in businesses in La Romana and San Juan de la Maguana. Those rescued were Dominican, Venezuelan and Haitians. 10 persons were arrested as part of the criminal network and four businesses were closed. Those arrested will appear in court in La Romana today 2 October and in San Juan on 4 October.
María Martínez Morel (Mary and/or la Rubia), Marino Leonardo, Pedro Guante, Juan Isidro Mercedes, and Alen José Feliciano were arrested and Haitian national Miguel Desiré in La Romana. The businesses closed in La Romana are La China Bar, D’ Cache Bar and Bar la Rejilla
Maribel García Herrera and her husband Ángel Emilio Puello (Papiro), Ángela del Carmen García (Angely) and Lourdes Anadelia Hernández Hernández, all of whom are Dominican, were arrested in San Juan de la Maguana. Disco Terraza El Canal was the business closed in San Juan de la Maguana.
