DR slides 13 points in World Bank Doing Business Report

In the 16th issue of the World Bank Doing Business Report 2020, the Dominican Republic dropped 13 points to the 115th place of 190 assessed countries. The report was released on 24 October 2019.

This is the second consecutive decline for the Dominican Republic. In 2018 the country had already declined to 102nd from 92nd in 2017.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is listed 15th of 32 countries.

Economies are ranked on their ease of doing business, from 1-190. A high ease of doing business ranking means the regulatory environment is more conducive to the launch and operation of a local firm. The rankings are determined by sorting the aggregate scores on 10 topics, each consisting of several indicators, giving equal weight to each topic. The rankings for all economies are benchmarked to May 2019.
