Luis Abinader says country is affected by crisis of morality

Luis Abinader, the presidential candidate of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) said he was signing an Ethics and Conduct Code for party directors at a time when the country’s most profound crisis is one of morality. He said there needs to be a renewed focus on ethics. The PRM Code of Ethics and Conduct describes the norms that must be observed by all members of the party’s campaign to ensure ethics and legality objectives in the electoral process.

Abinader stressed that ethics, politics and society are an indissoluble and indispensable trio. He said: “It is not an exaggeration to affirm that without ethics there is no society; and without society, there can be no politics”.

The signing of the agreement coincided with the PRM submitting legal actions against phone tapping.

Polls show Luis Abinader is the leading candidate into the 17 May 2020 election, albeit not with the 50%+1 needed to win in a first round. The same polls show a second-round vote may be needed.
