Japanese percussionist Ryota Kataoka will be playing Taiko drums on Saturday, 21 March 2020 at 6 pm at the east wing of the Galeria 360 shopping mall. The Embassy of Japan is sponsoring the concert.
Taiko is an ancient Japanese form of percussion using large drums and a variety of percussion instruments that create unique acoustics. During the 1900’s, Taiko drumming became a musical art form that involved a music ensemble and tightly choreographed movements. Ryota Kataoka will perform Taiko drumming as it is known today.
