The Alliance for Democracy (APD) party on Tuesday, 11 March 2020 deposited a request for the JCE to mark as “observed” the vote of 277,630 new voters of more than 25 years that were listed on the official electoral roll.
The political party suspects that the adding of three to eight voters equally throughout the polling stations is suspicious.
Mario Núñez, the national director of elections, reported that the same census is being used for the extraordinary elections of 15 March, with a total of 7.4 million voters.
“It is the same register that was used on 16 February, it is identical, there is no addition, nor subtraction, it is the same register, the same number of voters, 7,487,040 and it was subjected to a process of observation all the time,” Núñez said.
Nuñez explained that regarding this request, the Information Technology and Electoral Registry departments are looking into the matter.
