
The representatives of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) refused to accept the proposal of the main opposition party, the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) to relocate the heads of the Military Electoral Police assigned to polling stations nationwide. The PRM had made the request arguing that in the 16 February election, the military had intervened in favor of governing party candidates. Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramón Peralta argued that the Central Electoral Board (JCE) is in control of the electoral security.
The fifth day of talks primarily between the PLD and the PRM, ended with the agreement to elect an interim electoral prosecutor from two consensus candidates, Jonathan Baró and Gisela Cueto, but without the agreement on changes to the Military Electoral Police.
