
Dominican-born author Julia Alvarez is promoting the release of her new book “After Life.” The novelist spent the first 10 years of her childhood in the Dominican Republic before migrating to New York in 1960. She is best known for her writing that bridges the Dominican and American cultures. Among her past books are: “In the Time of the Butterflies,” “How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents,” “¡Yo!”, “In the Name of Salomé,” “Before We Were Free,” “A Gift of Gracias,” and “A Wedding in Haiti.”
