The US Visa Application Center (VAC) at the Galeria 360 in Santo Domingo will be reopening Monday, 15 June for the processing of nonimmigrant visa applications for eligible interview waiver cases only. The US Embassy says they are still closed for all routine cases that require interviews.
The US Embassy reports that meanwhile, the Consular Section is accepting renewal applications for many visas that do not require a personal interview. Those that qualify for a visa renewal must be a resident or citizen of the DR, must be renewing the visa in the same classification, must be renewing a multiple entry full-validity visa and the visa must be valid or has expired less than 12 months ago.
The US Embassy says it does not have a date for the resuming of other routine visa services. “Those who have appointments for an immigrant visa should wait to receive more information about the new date for their appointment,” the US Embassy says. Those with urgent cases that need to travel immediately can write to: support-dominicanrepublic@ustraveldocs.com to request an emergency appointment.
The institution also informs that approved visas and passports are available for pick up at Mail Boxes Etc. every day of the week during normal office hours.
Those who need to pick up their passports from the VAC can do so from Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm. The applicant will receive an email on when the passport is ready at the chosen location.
