Will TD13 become a tropical storm?

The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) was convened last night, for the first time during the new Abinader administration. The COE is in charge of coordinating government relief operations during natural disasters.

Tropical Depression 13 is moving west into Caribbean waters. The US’s NHC-NOAA forecast has the storm passing north of the Dominican Republic.

DR1 Weather’s forecaster, MikeFisher, closely monitors the storm for DR1 readers in the 2020 Hurricane Season thread of the DR1 Forums. MikeFisher has reported that the storm is fighting dry air on the way and could gain or lose force. More information is expected to be available today to determine whether the storm will become tropical storm (Laura), remain a tropical depression or just pass the Dominican Republic as a tropical wave. Whatever, forecasts are for much rain late on Saturday and Sunday. Read more and participate in the discussion at
