The Ministry of Foreign Relations and Migration Agency issued a resolution easing requirements for Venezuelans to regularize their migratory status. Migration will now accept expired passports of Venezuelan nationals who are in Dominican territory and seek to regularize their migratory status.
Resolution number 02-DGM-2021, signed by Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez and Migration Agency director Enrique Garcia, highlights the exception is made for humanitarian reasons.
The resolution indicates if there are doubts about the document’s veracity, in regards to the photograph and/or personal data and/or the relationship invoked, additional documentation may be requested or an in-depth interview may be conducted to ascertain the veracity of the documentation.
The Migration Agency is accepting that the Venezuelans in Dominican territory begin their procedure here. The request for residency for most foreigners needs to begin with a request made when the individual is in the country of origin.
The resolution clarifies that the Migration Agency (DGM) can deny entry to those foreigners who are included in the grounds for inadmissibility under Article 15 of Law 285-04 on Migration.
