
President Luis Abinader and Foreign Relations Minister Roberto Alvarez hosted a selection of Haitian and Dominican journalists at the Presidential Palace on Monday, 8 March 2021. Abinader answered questions of the Haitian journalists during the activity. Dominican ambassador to Haiti, Faruk Miguel, and José Singer, special advisor to President Abinader, were at the lunch. Former Haitian ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Edwin Paraison also attended. He lives in the Dominican Republic.
The Presidency reports the journalists who participated in the meeting were: Valerio Saidy Liquid, Garay Altidor, Ives Narie Chanel, Barbara St. Louis, Pierre Renel Rene, Guiometre Wedelin and Macajoux Karl Kkauss.
Also, Marie Lucie Bonhomme, Herol Jean Francois, Jacques Derosiers, Rochild Francois Jr., Luckner Garrard, Narcisa Garcia, Lucinda Gassagnol, Woodline Sainz-Dique, Widlore Merancourt, Patricia St. Pre and Jacques Sampietro.
Representing the Dominican journalists were Fausto Rosario, who was in charge of coordinating the meeting; Mercedes Castillo, president of the Dominican Journalists Association; Gustavo Olivo, Ramón Colombo, Altagracia Salazar, Ana Mitila Lora, Adalberto Gullón, German Marte, Milizen Uribe, Bienvenido Sharboy, Víctor Pizarro and José Luis Soto, among others.
During the meeting, President Abinader emphasized his interest in maintaining good relations between the two countries. He also expressed his willingness to keep open a channel of communication with the Haitian press.
